Does the size of an organism's mandibles reflect its strength and ability to catch prey?
Organism: Bull ant
Background info: See Home page
Hypothesis: If an organism has larger mandibles, it will be stronger and will be more able to catch predators than organisms with smaller mandibles.
Independent Variable(s): Size of mandible
Dependent Variable(s): Ability to catch prey
Control: Prey and type of organism
Equipment: 4 Mandibulata with different sized mandibles
Possible Procedure: Observe one Bull Ant's interaction with one prey. Repeat 4 times.
Possible Results: Larger mandibles= more prey captured
